REAPER is a workstation for digital audio. It is a full audio and MIDI recording, editing, processing, mixing, and mastering environment for multitrack audio and MIDI.
You may import any audio and MIDI files, synthesis, sample, write, arrange, edit, mix, and master songs or other audio projects using just your existing computer and no other software.
When combined with your choice of hardware audio interface (AD/DA: analog-to-digital/digital-to-analog) and a microphone, you have a full recording studio. It is equally at home recording a soloist, a band, or an orchestra.
REAPER transforms your PC into a full-featured recording studio. It will work with almost any audio interface currently available. Even interfaces designed by firms whose software precludes the use of any other hardware interface.
REAPER lacks track kinds, buses, and tools, as well as offline processing. Simply add a track above the drum tracks and click the folder button to create a drum bus. The drums will be sent to the folder automatically. Once you’ve dialed in the drum levels and FX, you may record the folder’s output to non-destructively freeze the drums and continue.
