Balabolka is a Text-To-Speech (TTS) program. All computer voices installed in your system can be used by Balabolka. The screen text can be saved as a WAV, MP3, OGG, or WMA file.
The program can read the contents of the clipboard, open DOC, RTF, PDF, ODT, FB2, and HTML files, customize the background color and font, can control reading from the notification area (system tray) or through the global hotkeys.

Balabolka uses different versions of the Microsoft Speech API (SAPI); it is possible to change the voice parameters, including speed and pitch. The user can apply a special list of substitutions to improve the quality of voice articulation. This feature is useful when you want to change the pronunciation of words. Pronunciation correction rules use VBScript syntax.
