McAfee Stinger is a standalone virus detection and removal program. McAfee scanning technology is used, including scanning of processes, digitally signed DAT files, boot sectors. The product detects and removes most of the better-known viruses and Trojans.
McAfee AVERT Stinger allows users to detect and remove specific viruses. The program has a clean and simple user interface. Scanning the files on the disc does not load the system. Works directly from the executable file, ie. is portable.
McAfee AVERT Stinger cannot replace full-featured antivirus software, but rather is a helpful tool that administrators and users can use to recover infected systems.
